Megeve Skiing: A perfect winter break

Megeve Skiing: A perfect winter break

Megeve is probably the most romantic ski resort I have been to! It has a reputation for being quite a fancy resort, and many people also go and don’t even ski/snowboard as it is lovely to walk around. With that, Megeve skiing can end up becoming an expensive holiday, but with some of my recommendations, you can still have a fun holiday without breaking the bank.

It is the perfect size town, easy to reach, relaxed Apres ski and the most wonderful wide slopes. We went for 4 days and thought it was the perfect amount of time.

How to get there:

Fly to Geneva, Switzerland – there are loads of direct flights from London and other European city.

From the airport you can take a shuttle bus to Megeve, they will drop you off at your hotel/chalet.

Tips:

Ski rental – get your skis from Ski Concept. They are really close to the ski lifts, literally next door to the gondola so you don’t have to carry heavy skis! I don’t know if it still works but using the code “STANFORD” will get you a 15% discount. I booked online in advance so they have the skis ready for you when you arrive!

Ski passes – they are 45 euros per day but you get a discount if you buy several days, the office is next door to the ski shop.

Megeve mountain – a really fun addition of the mountain is that you can log into the website at the end of the day and can see how far you have skied and all the routes you took which can be fun!

Accommodation – we stayed in Chalet Mien de Rien which was a lovely chalet hosted by Teresa. She only has 2 rooms for guests and serves a lovely continental breakfast which was slightly different each morning.

Restaurants:

Some of our favourite restaurants were:

Forestier – on the mountain and has the best Tartiflette (must try French dish). They have lots of seating outside making it a relaxing lunch break.

La Folie Douce – this is a fun place to go to around 4pm where they play music with a band and some dancing. Once done, can merrily ski down the slopes. You can also go there early to grab some lunch, it is self service which means lots of options. However, it does get very popular so be prepare to queue!

Le comptoir d’ Alice – this is located in Megeve town and we had some really nice food here and a lovely atmosphere.

When in Megeve town there are lots of lovely little bistros to grab a drink after skiing such as some mulled wine in the winter season 🙂

Enjoy your trip!!

Eileen xoxo
